Abstract
⺠Internucleotide distances in bacterial genomes have an average and fluctuations. ⺠Genomic sequences can be classified as linear or piecewise linear. ⺠Unfolding allows a comparison between genomes coming from different organisms. ⺠The nearest-neighbor spacing distributions distinguish between bacterial genera. ⺠The codon usage fixes the shape of the nearest-neighbor spacing distributions.
