Abstract
⺠A first study of Chinese syllable-to-character mapping statistics. ⺠Conclusive result that the beta rank function (an extension of the power-law as in Zipf's law) is a better fitting function than the logarithmic function. ⺠Discussion on a hypothesis that the beta rank function is good for rank-constrained data, whereas power-law is good for range-open data.
