Abstract
⺠We develop an accurate and efficient numerical algorithm to detect overlapping of ellipses. ⺠The algorithm can be extended to three-dimensional case. ⺠Increasing aspect ratio and equivalent diameter will ascend thickness of interfacial transition zone. ⺠The distance corresponding to the peak value is the same with increasing aspect ratio. ⺠The peak value of the solid volume fraction is a constant with increasing equivalent diameter.
