Abstract
⺠We study influences of agents' activation and deactivation on opinion evolution. ⺠Agents may drop out of the discussion, or they can be motivated by active neighbors. ⺠The final average opinion exhibits a transition at a threshold value of dissipation. ⺠The system with dissipation gains a fast relaxation rate along with small clusters.
