Abstract
⺠Transport of volume in a binary liquid mixture is investigated by thermodynamic tools. ⺠Volume is not conserved in a constant-volume vessel despite the law of additive volumes. ⺠Galilean invariance of the transport equations is checked throughout. ⺠The work has implications regarding mutual-diffusivity measurements and simulations.
