Abstract
⺠The proposed model is based on the Penna model that is well known in the field of physics. ⺠The proposed model is applied in the area of worldwide interest - the effects of fishing on exploited populations. ⺠The proposed model was applied to a species of great economic importance in Brazil. ⺠The model can be applied to different species. ⺠The results call attention to the urgency for change in fisheries legislation based minimum catch sizes.
