► Individual income distributions from 1992-2009 in China were presented. ► The probability density functions (PDFs) can be expressed as formula P(x)=B(x−μ)e−(x−μ)22σ2. ► PDFs were influenced by changing factor (x−μ) and 'plan economic' factor e−(x−μ)22σ2. ► The changing factor (x−μ) will transform the PDFs to the exponential distributions.
