Abstract
⺠We model the impact of quiescent cells on chemotherapy effectiveness. ⺠We assume that chemotherapy only affects cell reproduction and induces cell apoptosis. ⺠Therapy-surviving quiescent cells may become proliferative and restart tumor growth. ⺠Quiescent cells cause therapy failure even in the absence of acquired resistance.
