Abstract
⺠We use phase characterization method to extract phase fluctuations from signals. ⺠We use DFA method to detect the robust scaling behavior in the phase fluctuations. ⺠The scaling exponent is sensitive to the transition among different flow patterns. ⺠Our method is effective for characterizing complex flow patterns. ⺠Broader applicability of our method is demonstrated and articulated.
