Abstract
⺠We consider a thermodynamic system out of equilibrium. ⺠Three new thermodynamic potentials are considered. ⺠They describe a system that can exchange energy and information with the reservoir. ⺠Information theory quantifies the reduction in entropy by exchanging information. ⺠The use of information to control the exchange of energy maximizes the free energy.
