Abstract
⺠Inter-archipelago trade post-A.D. 1350 linked elites on Mo'orea, Rai'atea, and Tahiti. ⺠An adze production workshop has been identified in the Afareaitu region. ⺠Adzes from the Afareaitu workshop have been found in excavated contexts in the 'Opunohu Valley. ⺠Adzes from off-island sources are found in ritual and specialized use sites, suggestive of gift exchange among elites.
