Abstract
⺠The risk of road crashes is reduced in areas with frequent, sharp bends. ⺠This effect is particularly apparent for the most serious, fatal, crashes. ⺠The effect operates over large and small geographical areas. ⺠Although individual road bends elevate risk, drivers may take more care where many bends are present.
