Abstract
► Private peer group settings (PPSs) may facilitate alcohol use in adolescents. ► Many Dutch adolescents have easy access to alcohol in these unlicensed PPSs. ► Adolescents visiting PPSs engage in hazardous alcohol use more frequently. ► Parental supervision on PPSs seems effective, but is often lacking. ► Dutch authorities have insufficient legal means to regulate these private settings.
