Abstract
⺠This paper examines policies and regulations related to Onsen (hot spring) therapy (touji) in Japan. ⺠The historical, physical and socio-cultural aspects of onsens are analyzed from the perspective of therapeutic landscapes. ⺠Relevance of onsen therapy in contemporary healthcare and its major challenges are explored.
