Abstract
⺠Adult obesity is increasingly attributed to the built environment. ⺠The influence of the built environment on childhood obesity is under-investigated. ⺠A range of environmental factors are associated with obesity in children. ⺠The impact of the built environment is influenced by urban-rural status. ⺠Interventions that impact the built environment may influence childhood obesity.
