Abstract
⺠Market funding comprises around 20-25% of total funding for biodiversity conservation in developing countries. ⺠There remains a significant funding gap for biodiversity conservation, in particular in low-income and middle-income countries. ⺠Relying on market funding including PES alone to generate additional funds will not arrest global biodiversity loss. ⺠A new, long-term funding mechanism is required for global biodiversity conservation.
