Abstract
⺠Urban sustainability and the health of urban residents are inextricably linked. ⺠African cities are particularly vulnerable in terms of sustainability and health. ⺠Maintaining and improving ecosystem services (water, air, soil) are crucial for achieving urban sustainability. ⺠The projected health risks of environmental change require urgent attention from local governments and other stakeholders. ⺠Strategies for promoting urban food security are particularly important.
