Abstract
⺠Future global nutrient (N, P, C, Si) export models are preferably dynamic, distributed and mechanistic. ⺠Future nutrient inputs to coastal waters may be higher than today, but not in all world regions. ⺠Coastal eutrophication may increase in Asia, and decrease in Europe in the future. ⺠More measurements of nutrients in rivers are needed, especially in the tropics. ⺠There is a need for agricultural and sanitation policies aimed at reducing coastal eutrophication.
