Abstract
⺠The Pearl River Estuary is used as an example to show that seawater can be the main source of nutrients in an estuary. ⺠The target of nutrient removal is not necessarily the limiting nutrient of the river water. ⺠Based on hydrological variability four nutrient management strategies, each with an example, are given.
