Abstract
⺠Global environmental change is a multidimensional condition, not a discrete 'environmental' problem. ⺠Translating marine knowledge into effective actions is one of the greatest challenges. ⺠Social, functional and institutional barriers hinder the implementation of scientific findings to policy and practice. ⺠Turning marine knowledge into effective actions requires re-calibrating scientific approaches and policy instruments. ⺠Co-designing knowledge is a feasible way to bridge gaps between marine scientists, policy makers and practitioners.
