Abstract
⺠The concept of wellbeing is already used in a wide range of public policies. ⺠A social concept of wellbeing is highly relevant to marine resource sustainability. ⺠Well-being offers a holistic approach to the assessment of social impacts of fisheries decline. ⺠Well-being offers new insight into fisher behaviour and motivation. ⺠We discuss a framework for social wellbeing, including material, relational and subjective dimensions.
