Abstract
⺠The first detailed analysis of canvassing by political parties over the six months preceding a British general election, using a large panel survey. ⺠It finds pre-campaign parties concentrated on canvassing middle-class neighbourhoods in marginal seats. ⺠During the campaign, parties concentrated on those who had previously intended voting for them. âºÂ The more that people were contacted by a party during the campaign, the more likely they were to vote for it.
