Abstract
⺠In mixed-member systems, mandate type should affect party discipline in roll calls. ⺠The empirical evidence for the differing mandates hypothesis is weak. ⺠Taiwan provides a definitive test case for the differing mandates hypothesis. ⺠In Taiwan, nominal legislators defect more frequently than list legislators.
