Abstract
► We study greenhouse gas impacts of replacing various fossil fuels with wood pellets. ► We undertake a sensitivity analysis to reveal the main factors impacting emissions. ► Replacing lignite in power plants reduce emissions by 298 kg CO2eq/GJ energy output. ► Criteria for the important carbon neutrality assumption are discussed. ► Including all or none CO2 emissions from biomass combustion are both simplifications.
