Abstract
► We analyse theoretical issues with MAC curves and their use in practice. ► MAC curves suffer from various theoretical shortcomings. ► Simplistic use of MAC curves in practice might have been misleading. ► MAC curves are an illustrative guide, if not relied upon exclusively. ► There exist ways to overcome existing shortcomings and derive robust MAC curves.
