Abstract
⺠We analyze why big brand companies are increasingly integrating sustainability. ⺠We reveal that the main driver is the pursuit of business value and governance power. ⺠Value and power gains are especially significant within global supply chains. ⺠We find reductions in per unit energy, material, water, and waste impacts. ⺠Nonetheless, we see innate limits for fundamental change to environmental governance.
