Abstract
⺠Driving forces operate at administrative levels not always matching ecological scales. ⺠We developed a typology of scale sensitivity of drivers of environmental change. ⺠Indirect drivers tend to show low scale sensitivity. ⺠Direct drivers show high scale sensitivity, operating in a non-linear way across levels. ⺠Policies need to address scale sensitivity of direct drivers during formulation.
