Abstract
⺠Little research has explored public perceptions of justice in climate change policy. ⺠Think-aloud protocols and decision scenarios were used to explore lay justice arguments. ⺠Causality was a key argument in the mitigation scenario. ⺠Perceived need and the (in)ability to cope were central arguments in adaptation scenarios.
