Abstract
⺠The risk transition model is tested at the household level. ⺠Household risk perceptions are examined using participatory approaches. ⺠Resource poor Indian communities face a triple risk burden. ⺠Poor people foreground household risks and background late-modern risk. ⺠Understanding risk perceptions is important for policy interventions.
