Abstract
⺠We address stakeholder participation in environmental assessment in Chile. ⺠Stakeholder involvement is very limited and difficult to exert. ⺠There is a general lack of knowledge about institutions and participation tools. ⺠The use of Internet as information channel results in a barrier for rural communities. ⺠Some basic steps are proposed to improve participation and sustainable development.
