Abstract
►Obtention and characterization of thermal- and acid-treated kaolins. ► Influence of the structural and chemical properties of the modified kaolins on SO2 adsorption gas. ► SO2 adsorption is improved after high thermal treatment (900 °C) followed by long time acid-treatment on kaolins. ► The presence of not well ordered kaolinite clay minerals in raw kaolin clay is very important for a better SO2 adsorption.
