Abstract

âº The approximate chi-square test for GAMs has an inflated type I error rate. âº The conditional permutation test for GAMs has an inflated type I error rate. âº Significance cutoff adjustments are empirically derived for both tests. âº The corrected tests had appropriate sizes across region shapes and sample sizes.
