Abstract
⺠This article examines 4 key expectations which the author argues impact significantly how people view aging. ⺠Combining personal narratives with other biographical materials, the author explores the sometimes contradictory ways in which these expectations inform our own journeys through the life course. ⺠Drawing on some of the recent writings by gerontologists, the author makes the case for using lived experience as a vehicle for investigating wider social phenomena.
