Abstract
⺠The charged single α-helix (CSAH) is a novel protein structural motif. ⺠Using a consensus prediction approach, we surveyed all UniProt proteins. ⺠The CSAH motif is most abundant in RNA-binding and symbiosis-related proteins. ⺠The motif shows no deep conservation in protein families. ⺠CSAH segments might be subjects of relatively rapid molecular evolution.
