⺠NGB is an endogenous neuroprotective protein. ⺠NGB overexpression protects neurons against death induced by neurotoxicity. ⺠NGB is hormone-inducible nerve globin. ⺠NGB localization into mitochondria sustains a new neuroprotective mechanism.
