Abstract
⺠Major and minor boar taint compounds were determined in a set of entire male wild boars by GC-MS. ⺠High concentrations of the boar pheromones androstenone and 3α/3β -androstenol were observed. ⺠Skatole was not detectable in 50% of the animals and remarkably low in all other animals. ⺠Differences in the skatole deposition between wild boars and domestic pigs were concluded. ⺠Species differences probably influencing the skatole deposition were elaborated.
