Abstract
⺠l-Arabinose and SBP inhibited high glucose-induced cytotoxicity and lipid peroxidation, and they elevated glucose uptake. ⺠They also down-regulated the expressions of iNOS, COX-2 and NF-κB induced by 45 mM glucose in LLC-PK1 cells. ⺠Arabinose exhibited stronger inhibitory activity on high glucose-induced oxidative stress than SBP did. ⺠l-Arabinose and SBP are promising antioxidative agents with protective activities against hyperglycemia.
