Abstract
⺠2-Decylcyclobutanone (2-DCB) and 2-dodecylcyclobutanone (2-dDCB) were identified in irradiated nutmeg using GC-MS. ⺠Neither 2-DCB nor 2-dDCB was detected in non-irradiated nutmeg using high-resolution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. ⺠2-DCB and 2-dDCB was found in irradiated nutmeg even after 30 weeks of storage. ⺠2-Alkylcyclobutanones were reliable and useful makers for the detection of irradiated nutmeg.
