Abstract
⺠Mangosteens have a high content of xanthones. ⺠Pericarp is seen as novel food despite its long-term use in countries of origin. ⺠Xanthone pattern was analysed in pericarp, aril and a functional beverage. ⺠The fruit parts and the beverage show same xanthone pattern but differ in contents. ⺠Mangosteen pericarp as novel food should be reconsidered.
