Abstract
► Seventy one Portuguese beeswax samples of Apis mellifera were chemically characterised. ► Unsupervised chemometric method were used to establish beeswax authenticity. ► Chemometric approach was superior in establishing beeswax authenticity. ► A successful classification model was obtained by linear discriminant analysis. ► The HT-GC-FID chemical profile is a more efficient way of beeswax authentication.
