Effect of soy and milk protein-related compounds on Listeria monocytogenes infection in human enterocyte Caco-2 cells and A/J mice

► Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) invasion into Caco-2 cells tended to be high with digested casein. ► Lm was infected via intra-gastric to A/J mice fed 20% milk casein (MC) or soy protein (SP) diet. ► Liver and spleen Lm numbers were tended to be lower in mice fed SP. ► SP suppressed the inflammation marker tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α in spleen tissue. ► LPS-stimulated NO secretion from RAW 264.7 cells was suppressed by digested soy protein.
