Abstract
► Trace element composition determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy has been addressed to achieve a complete geographical origin classification of rice samples. ► Data processed by linear discriminant analysis (LDA) enabled a 91.30% of prediction capability. ► Lanthanides, Cd and Co have been identified as the most influent indicators of the geographical origin of rice samples due to their different concentrations in soils and their effective uptake by plants.
