Abstract
► A cloud point extraction method for preconcentration and determination of Allura red in food samples is proposed. ► Mixed micelles of cationic surfactant CTAB and two different non-ionic surfactants, Triton X-114 and Triton X-100 were used. ► The method is simple, versatile and sensitive for monitoring of Allura red in food samples such as candy, soft drink, pastel and jelly. ► The limit of detection of the method (LOD) is better or comparable to some of the previously reported techniques.
