Abstract
► Salvia sclareoides is the first Salvia species with prion binding properties. ► Total phenolic content, antioxidant activity and chemical profile are presented. ► Extracts were not cytotoxic nor genotoxic to human lymphocytes. ► n-Butanol extract presented the highest phenolic content and antioxidant activity. ► n-Butanol extract components bind to the cellular form of human prion protein.
