Abstract
► Frangula rupestris is a new source of anthraquinone derivatives. ► Physcion is the main anthranoid aglycone of F. rupestris. ► F. rupestris and Frangula alnus demonstrate potent antimicrobial activity in vitro. ► Both investigated Frangula species are effective antioxidants.
