Abstract
⺠The study deals with the identification of anthocyanins in mangosteen pericarp. ⺠A new anthocyanin, pelargonidin 3-glucoside was identified in mangosteen pericarp. ⺠Acid hydrolysis of this anthocyanin consisted of a single aglycone-pelargondin. ⺠Comparison of saponified and unsaponified fraction indicated the pigment was not acylated. ⺠The pigments were confirmed by HPLC, ESI-MS positive mode, UV-Vis spectra, NMR.
