Abstract
⺠Available energy of food is that delivered to cells and available for metabolic processes. ⺠Available energy may be a more accurate measure than metabolisable energy. ⺠The available energy of kiwifruit was determined using an in vivo-in vitro model. ⺠Available energy and metabolisable energy rank energy supply from a food differently. ⺠Low available energy content of kiwifruit makes it an ideal weight loss food.
