Abstract
⺠Myrtle and pomegranate extracts were characterized by HPLC/DAD/ESI-MS, tannins from different subclasses were identified. ⺠The different polyphenol composition can be related to their potential role in human health. ⺠Their antiradical properties were evaluated and compared to those of commercial extracts of chestnut bark and grape seeds. ⺠The standardized extracts are suggested here for new uses in phytotherapy, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and textile/dyeing. ⺠The raw materials from pruning practices, biomass, waste could be employed as innovative sources of antioxidant molecules.
