Abstract
⺠Chemical composition of some traditional cultivars of potatoes were published in the first time. ⺠The genetic characteristics related with the cultivar significantly influenced the chemical composition of the potato. ⺠Differences in the chemical composition permit to select the potato cultivars with the highest nutritional value. ⺠The cultivation soil affects the chemical composition of potatoes, which allows identifying their geographic origin. ⺠Linear discriminant analysis applied differentiated the potato samples according to cultivar and growing location.
