Abstract
► We examine the effects of Perilla frutescens leaves grown in different sucrose. ► Perilla leaf extracts, PLE-III is chosen for caffeic acid (CA) level and antioxidant activities. ► We demonstrate that P. frutescens with higher contents of CA is produced. ► It suggests that sucrose can contribute to induce this second metabolite, CA.
